UNUSUAL--EXCITING Birthday!

What a cutie!
(can you tell I just figured out how to use our scanner!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHELSEY!

Hard to believe she's 19! (I secretly want time to stop and nothing to change!)

Chelsey's birthday was spent mainly like this--Right after her hair appt she got home at 11:20 and came in and told me their was a bunch of policeman with their guns drawn on our street. For the next 4 hours we were not allowed to leave our house and no one could come into our house either. The elementary school had a modified lockdown because they had early dismissal and were suppose to be dismissed at 11:45. Chantz went down to try and pick the girls up but since he wasn't an adult--they weren't going to let him. We couldn't leave our house so I called the school and thankfully some of the ladies in our ward were down there and explained the situation. The principal talked to Chantz and let him take Carlee and Cami-- So I knew they were safe.
This is right across the street. Our neighbor that lives one house down had been held hostage since about 7am by the soon to be ex-husband of his current girlfriend. He had tied him up to the bed and was holding him at gunpoint. Patrick (the neighbor) managed to escape when the ex-husband went to the bathroom. Patrick grabbed his own gun and they exchanged fire. He knew he had shot the guy but he didn't know if he was dead. He went running down our street trying to get help. He was only in his boxers, still carrying his gun, and bleeding profusely from his gunshot wound on his leg. He ended up running all the way down the street until he finally found someone outside who took him to his backyard. For the next 3 1/2 hours the swat team and a LOT of policemen surrounded the house not knowing if the guy was armed and still in the house.
This is them going over the fence into the backyard of the house.

Finally they said we could come out because they had found the guy dead in the house. They taped off everything until the CSI could gather evidence. Their was bloody foot-prints all the way down the street from where Patrick was running trying to find help. The police finally left around midnight! What a long day--especially if it's your birthday! I don't think this will be a birthday she will ever forget! (Luckily, our neighbor is going to be okay)

Thanks for the pics. I guess it is nice we live normally boring lives. Think if you had to be shut up in your home all the time! On a lighter note, little Chelsey is so dang cute! I can't believe after 5 girls you still love doing their hair. I burned out with the first.
